Road rage is a real issue, especially for drivers who find themselves stuck in heavy traffic day-after-day. Different people have different opinions as to what can keep druvers calmer behind the wheel, some are based on practicality, while others take a more hollistic approach. For now, let's talk about the logical ways you can remain calm behind the wheel and prevent road rage.
1. Keep driving experiences positive - many drivers get behind the wheel of a car to blow off steam, but that can...

Okay, so for many of us, winter's on it's way, and that means driving more defensively than ever and ensuring that our cars are properly maintained for a season of driving through snow and ice. Others have already discussed how to properly maintain your car in winter, but it's also important that you put together an emergency winter driving kit so you're prepared for virtually anything that could happen should you break down or encounter some other difficulty when on the road.
Here are a...

Every year, the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) publishes a list of the worst roads, in an attempt to mobilize politicians to make an improvement to those streets that make drivers feel unsafe or that cause dammage to their cars. It's a good effort, but unfortunately since the worst street has made the top of the list for two consequitive years, those in charge of improvements aren't moving too quickly!!
Here is this year's list of the worst streets in Canada, according to CAA based...

Recently we talked about how to avoid a traffic ticket, but if you have to be among the percentage of the population that actually gets caught speeding, it is possible to fight it and either reduce your fine or ensure that the impact on your driving record is more minimal. If you have a traffic ticket that you don't believe you deserve, here are a few things you can do to avoid the charges:
1. Never pay the ticket right away - whether you were speeding or not, paying your ticket right away...

Today marks the official beginning of the cell phone ban here in Ontario, and there's no better time than now to talk about what you think about cell phone bans sweeping North America and Europe that prohibit you from using your phone while driving without a hands-free device. Do you live in an area where this ban is in effect, and what do you think about it? Or if cell phones aren't banned where you live, do you think they should be?
Personally, I can see both sides of the argument; yes,...

After reading through a variety of articles with user feedback, it's been determined that the worst commute in the Toronto area just happens to be the commute from the area I live right into the downtown core. All I can say, is I'm happy I rarely have to do it anymore, but pity my husband who does.
Toronto has multiple highway systems to accomodate commuting from the suburbs right into the city of Toronto. There's the 403, QEW, Gardiner, 401 and more recently constructed 407, a toll...

In most of the major North American cities, there are many choices of ways to make a daily commute - there are commuter trains, buses, subways, street cars, and of course, for those who live close enough to their workplace, bikes. I've been on a couple of ends of the commuting spectrum, driving, walking/bus/train and all options are a bit of a headache. But is one option really better than the other? Here are reasons why people choose to drive:
1. Schedules aren't an issue - particularly...

The world "commute" driggers nightmares with most North Americans - driving in rush hour traffic stinks no matter which way you look at it! But, with proper planning, you can make your commute convenient as possible in the following ways:
1. Try to live near a major highway or transit line - while you can't always predict the convenience of your workplace to home, you can choose to live somewhere with easy access to a highway or transit line. When choosing where to rent or buy, consider here...

We've all seen dangerous drivers on the road; whether it's during rushhour traffic with someone rapidly weaving in and out of bumper-to-bumper traffic, or simply somone driving to fast and having trouble staying in their lane. But sadly, few of us know what we're suppossed to do if we witness such a driving atrocity.
To keep ourselves and those in our vehicle safe, here are a few helpful tips:
1. If you spot the driver in your rear view mirror, pull to the side or off the road to let...

This is a personal account of my experience with GPS. Whether it's during a daily commute or when out for a casual drive to the store, I'm not one to use GPS. I rely on my sense of direction to get me where I'm going, even should a detour like traffic or a car accident send me on a different course. That sense of direction has very rarely failed me.
My spouse doesn't posess the same sense of direction, and after multiple highway closures or traffic jams got my husband off of the one route...
